Which SBR sustainability initiative would be best to scale up to Singapore?

Perhaps the rooftop system. SBR's rooftop has been around for a long time (over 10 years) and goes against the misconception that rooftop systems are complicated and troublesome to manage. As a matter of fact, this particular system (one of the longest in Singapore) has numerous benefits including energy efficiency (the energy input to the building below can be reduced by 15-30%) because of the insulation provided. There are many other benefits that are totally scalable:

- Increasing urban greenery;
- Attracting wildlife back to cities;
- Flood control: rooftop of this type act as a giant "sponge" preventing flush floods during heavy rainfalls;

Do you think more green roofs should be installed throughout the island?

I think that it can be the green features that SBR used. Singapore is adding different types of green building features into the buildings too. Any other suggestions? Smile

SBR (Siloso Beach Resort) has various projects that looks into sustainability from construction techniques to technologies and management. This question is best suited for those who have attended eco tours of the facilities
